Good Evening Iowa Families,

I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather! This is an exciting week – the last week of school! During this unusual time, as I stated in my email on Friday, we want to celebrate the last day of school by having our teachers/staff do a parade through our neighborhoods. The parade of Iowa teachers/staff will begin at 2:00 pm. Attached is an image showing the route we will be taking and the approximate times we will be in each area. Below I have also provided the written directions of the route. The route was determined based on the locations of our students and places we feel students/families can walk to in order to wave to their teachers. We want to encourage everyone to stand on the sidewalks to cheer as our students and teachers/staff can see each other one more time before the summer. This will be a great event to close out our school year given the circumstances. We hope to see everyone on Thursday!

During the extended school closure, Aurora Public Schools will be distributing FREE breakfast, lunch and dinner. These meals will be provided at 16 locations. All three meals, which include vegetarian options, will be available together for pickup through a grab-and-go system. Thanks to generous philanthropic support, we are now able to provide meals to everyone including adults.

Meals will be available Monday through Friday through April 17 at the following locations and times. APS is providing meals at as many locations as possible to reduce travel distances for families. You will notice that the windows for meal pick up are 25 minutes long. Although this may seem short, we believe this window will allow us to provide for a grab-and-go system while also helping us maximize the number of pick-up locations and serve the highest number of families throughout the district.

Transportation Survey

Aurora Public Schools are currently studying the financial and logistical impact of providing more students transportation access by reducing student walk distances. Using SchoolMessenger, APS will be reaching out to parents and guardians to gather feedback using an online survey in order to provide transportation services to more students. If you are unable to to complete the survey online APS will provide a paper survey that can be filled out at your student's school or feel free to print out the survey below and turn it in.
